Training course “Intercultural Learning as a Tool for Conflicts Prevention and Resolution in Multicultural Societies”

About thirty youth workers from UK, Finland, Germany, Italy, Makedonia, Chech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and Latvia have participated in the training course where have learned and discussed how intercultural education and peace education could improve relations between different ethnic groups in multicultural societies. The training course is supported by European Youth Foundation.

The aims of the training course were as follows:

  • to increase the participants’ awareness and better understanding of intercultural learning and conflict resolution;
  • to show the role of intercultural dialogue in the promotion of peace;
  • to discuss obstacles preventing understanding between minority and majority groups;
  • to exchange experience and good practice of Intercultural Dialogue and peace education;
  • to discuss and develop concrete initiatives, projects and ideas on Intercultural education to be implemented by participants.

Participants learned about Intercultural learning, conflict prevention and peace education, discussed issues of minority-majority relations, visited some Latvian NGOs and discussed common projects and follow-up plans.
